Elering entered into contracts with construction company Connecto Eesti for the construction of a new substation and performance of works related to the power line in Saarde rural municipality in Pärnu county. The total value of the contracts is approximately 1.6 million euros.

Elering’s customer in the construction of a 110-kilovolt Saarde substation is energy group Utilitas who will be connecting to the new substation with its 39-megawatt Saarde wind park. The connecting party will bear the costs related to the construction of the substation.

Saarde substation will be built on the territory of Kärsu village, in the proximity of Tartu-Viljandi-Sindi high voltage power line. According to the construction contract, the substation will be completed by next September.

The electricity transmission network administered by Elering consists of more than 150 substations and 5400 kilometres of transmission lines.

Utilitas produces renewable energy and provides district heating. In 2021, Utilitas produces two terawatt-hours of heat and 330 gigawatt-hours of electricity.
