Customers who have signed an open market electricity contract consumed 83% and customers who use the universal service to buy electricity consumed 17% of the total electricity consumed in January. The universal service was used at 236,000 metering points in January.
Based on the hourly rates on the power exchange and the standard consumption schedule for Estonia's largest distribution network operator, the weighted average electricity base rate in January was 42.71 euros per megawatt-hour without the sales margin.
Almost half a million electricity contracts have been signed, which means that more than 70% of the places of consumption have signed a contract to buy electricity. Around 80% of electricity contracts are fixed-term contracts and the other 20% are open-ended contracts. About 500 customers who had signed an electricity contract for January chose to sign a new contract with another electricity seller for February.
