According to Elering’s smart grid platform Estfeed, there were close to 729,057 places of consumption connected to the power grid in Estonia as of the end of September, and the first nine months of the year saw the addition of nearly 3,500 new ones.

As of the last day of September, close to 582,469 places of consumption buy electricity from an electricity seller on the basis of electricity contract and 146,588 from the distribution grid companies as a general service.

Over 600 places of consumption were added in September alone. In October, contracts will be renewed with the same seller or new contracts concluded in almost 3,727 cases, and there will be a change in service provider in 1,002 cases.

Over the last two years, Elering’s smart grid platform has also collected data on gas contracts. As of the end of September, there were 56,642 places of consumption with a network contract. Around 600 places of consumption have not chosen a gas seller; the rest buy gas on the basis of a contract with the gas seller. In October, 72 places of consumption will switch to a different service provider.

The market shares of electricity sellers’ balance portfolios in the recent months on the basis of consumption were listed in the table below. The basis for calculation of the shares of the portfolios are the consumption volumes metered in a given district, consisting of the network losses for the network operators and, in addition, the electricity sold under universal service.
