Reigo Kebja, previously engaged in the fields of the power grid, cogeneration, and renewable energy, has joined the management board of the combined electricity and gas system operator Elering.

The supervisory board approved Kebja as the winner of the competition for the position of a member of the management board last week. Kebja will assume the position of a member of the management board of Elering and the position of Head of Asset Management from 5 February next year.

“The fact that Reigo has a clear vision concerning the future of the energy sector and prior long-term experience in the fields of the grid, cogeneration, and renewable energy was crucial to making this decision. Him having experience from the customer’s perspective when it comes to the grid is a valuable competence for Elering and it will help us implement the ambitious objectives of Estonia in terms of meeting renewable energy goals, including the connection of a great number of production capacities to the power grid,” said Kalle Kilk, Chairman of the Management Board of Elering.

According to Kebja, the network managed by Elering has seen very high reliability and a very low failure rate thanks to its strong focus on asset management. However, considering the changing environment, the transmission network is facing new significant challenges and social expectations in the next few years. “I am very excited to join Elering in this challenging role. My objective is to assist Estonia in successfully meeting its ambitious energy-related goals together with the professional team of Elering and make sure that the solid foundation of operational reliability remains stable,” said Kebja.

Kebja’s areas of responsibility as Head of Asset Management include activities related to the management of and connections to the electricity and gas network, as well as network planning and construction.

In addition to Kebja, the Management Board of Elering consists of Kalle Kilk, Chairman of the Board, Riina Käi, Financial Manager, and Erkki Sapp, Head of System Management and Markets.

The energy transmission network managed by Elering consists of more than 5,000 kilometers of power lines and over 150 substations. The natural gas transmission pipeline managed by Elering is more than 1,000 kilometers long and includes metering and compression stations, and valve stations.
